What has me nervous is my recent experience of "upgrading" from 8.04 to 10.04 and having some of my long trusted motherboards not work or have terrible latency, with the usual fixes having no effect. There may be solutions in the wings, but I really don't enjoy having to search for or wait for a fix every time the operating system gets "upgraded", especially if most (or all) of these upgrades have absolutely nothing to do with EMC2 or RTAI. I suspect these issues are not lost on Tormach or Smithy.
