One possibility is that the encoder scale (in bldc) has the wrong
sign. (Or maybe that the pole counts is wrong)

Alternatively it might be that there is some coupling between the
power phases and the encoder signals on the motor.
I hope it isn't that, it would be much harder to sort out.

How approximately? These should all be "exactly" but I assume you are
talking about the inexactitude of manual movements.
