Thank you John! I greatly appreciate shared links to good sources for
materials, tools, etc.

I've been buying most of my fasteners from McMaster-Carr. When I need
5000 or more, I try to buy direct but it's a hassle. McMaster-Carr is a
good source for prototyping and buying a few fasteners for internal use,
but I knew there were less expensive alternatives for production. I've
been looking for a fastener supplier that filled the middle niche
between hardware store quantities and automotive manufacturing
quantities. Albany County Fasteners looks ideal. I like that they have
good pricing at every price point. That'll be great for prototyping and
production. With McMaster-Carr, I'm generally stuck buying 10, 25, 50
or 100 (their choice). My other option was a few local fastener
suppliers that cater to industry but it's a time wasting hassle to drive
over there to see what they have, and when I'd reorder a stock part
they'd get it from a different source and there would be slight
differences. Washers would have a different ID, OD and thickness. That
may not matter to a decking contractor but it's a killer when trying to
run production and the parts keep changing.

Albany County Fasteners was cheaper on 304 stainless parts than
McMaster-Carr was on the less expensive 18-8 stainless, even in the
smaller 100 quantities that McMaster-Carr sells. Albany was
significantly less expensive at higher quantities, and they offer free
shipping over $25 which is pretty much every order I make. Their variety
isn't as broad as McMaster-Carr, but it's good enough for most of my needs.

I had been looking for an online supplier for fasteners that caters to
small and mid-sized businesses, and thanks to you, I think I found
them. A single piece of information such as this can be worth hundreds
of dollars to a small business.
