I suspect as much, and that is not helped my the usually enhanced contact 
between face and stock when the stock is a thumbhole, which any of mine 
that have had new wood fitted are.

There an echo in here, my 22-250 is so straight I am tempted to lower the 
top of the comb just for more muff clearance. Unforch, I am the one who 
carved it, and there is less than 1/2" of wood there.  I carved it with 
about an inch less drop than I should have.  Hind sight, 20-05 you 
know. :)
