Hello, i'm trying a Canon 50mm f1.8 II on my EOS 50E and the depth of field preview is not working. When pressing the button it's making a noise as if its trying to close down the apperture but nothing changes in the viewfinder. After some hunting, LCD goes blank and empty battery symbol blinks. Pressing the shutter halfway brings the LCD back with full battery frame counter etc.
Is the lens faulty ? I borrowed it from a friend who hasnt used it for some time but hasnt mentioned anything about a fault. Or is it just an 'incompatibility' or something ? I assume that picture taking will be affected as well, i.e. it will only use f1.8 ?? Even if the display of the camera changes to other combinations of speeds/apperture.
