I believe the only thing needed on a C for this is the bigger trim tab. This STC makes perfect sense to me to be able to legally carry the max weight allowed by LSA and a measly $200 well spent especially for someone using an Ercoupe for hire as in this case. My contention is that the aircraft will carry the weight just as well without the paper GW increase. If the object is just to be "legal" I can't justify the costs. The O-200 conversion is, for me, a no brainier, though. Someone please enlighten me of your varying opinions and remember I'm not telling anyone to violate the laws. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Roy Stubbs > To: AJ DeMarzo ; [email protected] <mailto:ercoupe-tech%40yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2007 8:18 AM > Subject: RE: [ercoupe-tech] LSA Weight increase STC > > > > IMHO > > > > Structurally there is no difference in the weight carrying capabilities of the C, CD, D, etc. It is a matter of at what gross weight is the particular model Type Certificated. > > > > The conversion items to be complied with that convert a C to a D have nothing to do with structural integrity. The conversion to a D model which includes the higher weight change will tip you over the scales for LSA and quickly depreciate your aircraft. > > > > I must ask you though, is the piece of paper going to make the structure of your airplane any stronger? I doubt it, and would challenge anyone to prove me wrong. Personally I would do this only if anticipating going to an O-200 if there's an STC available that specifies the new weight would be allowable. > > > > Al DeMarzo > Visit the Ercoupe Swap Page - Free and Easy > http://www.ercoupeowners.com/swap/swapbook.htm <http://www.ercoupeowners.com/swap/swapbook.htm> > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: mbpowell > > To: [email protected] <mailto:ercoupe-tech%40yahoogroups.com> > > Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2007 7:19 AM > > Subject: [ercoupe-tech] LSA Weight increase STC > > > > I'm thinking of buying the STC to increase my gross weight.
