You might as well have asked how long a piece of string is.  

Without giving any detail about database sizes, migration method,
bandwidth, name and contact of potential client ... its no wonder you
got such cryptic responses!

Whilst Ed might have gone a bit over the top, we've come to expect that
from him ... yet he makes a valid point, that you should always estimate
longer.

I certainly enjoy the vote of confidence!  I've done several upgrades as
I already mentioned, I've just never had anyone actually ask me for a
fixed idea of how much time it would take so therefore was asking for
some ballpark estimates for some people who I THOUGHT might be able to
add better insight.  I had already figured about 8 hours and told them
to expect to take the server down for the weekend.  Gotta love when you
look for confirmation and get a backhand instead.
