Okay, this exchange is a perfect illustration of the problem with the
current mailing list reply-to settings.

Eric's post was offlist, a private email to David. I have no idea whether
he intended it to go to the list and forgot to hit "reply to all," or
whether this was actually intended as private mail. And there's no way for
David to know, either, unless he specifically asks Eric about his intent.

David's reply is on-list, quoting the private email. So either he
inadvertently breached etiquette by quoting someone else's private email
on-list, or he actually did Eric a favor by quoting material that was always
intended for the list.
This is a mess.
Again, since I'm told it's is a piece of cake to change the default
"reply-to" behavior, can our esteemed list owner PLEASE consider at least
allowing us to vote on whether the change should be made.

PS In answer to Eric's question, I don't believe Coda ships promo items
across the border to Canada (nor would you want them to -- you'd have to pay
duty on them!). I only started getting the T-shirts, etc after I moved to
the US.
