Well, I always assume that private replies not accompanied by an on-
list reply are intended to be private. In this case my incoming mail 
filters did not perform the way they normally do, so I didn't notice 
it wasn't to the list.

I didn't know the post was off-list because my mail filters work on 
the [FINALE] text in the subject. I prefer this even for private 
replies because it keeps all the relevant topics in one of my 
inboxes.

Generally, though, my filters kick in with the messages addressed to 
[EMAIL PROTECTED] getting sorted to my main inbox first, and [FINALE] 
posts getting picked up later. I don't know why that didn't happen in 
this case.

But, I certainly agree that the correct setting for a mailing list of 
this nature is to have the REPLY-TO be set to the mailing list 
address.
