You can turn off the ability to hear the notes when you enter them, if that will make life easier for you.

In either Speedy or Simple Entry menu, simply uncheck Playback.

I leave it turned off.

David,

I understand, and that is the way it has always
worked. What you see on the staff is what you hear (speedy--is what you
play) regardless of staff transposition. It's a pain, but I imagine the
opposite would be a pain to some people as well--that is, if it meant
that in speedy you play in the note you want to see (transposed), but
hear it in correct sounding pitch. I would get used to that and like
it, but it could be more confusing to some folks.

I wouldn't mind seeing a toggle for this behavior in
the Options menu or somewhere.

I can see no reason why anyone would want to hear the
wrong concert pitch when entering notes in Simple note
entry. It just doesn't make sense. If I'm entering a
third-space C in a transposed tenor sax staff, I want
to hear concert Bb below middle C, and there's no way
I'm gonna learn to "like" hearing a pitch a full major
ninth higher than the one it's supposed to be. I just
finished working on some arrangements for Bb trumpet,
trombone, Bb tenor sax and Eb baritone sax. As I
entered notes, filling in chord tone underneath the
trumpet part, I only heard the right notes in the
trombone staff. All the rest were off: the trumpet by
a step, the tenor sax by a major ninth, and the bari
by an octave and a sixth! Please understand that this
doesn't keep me from getting the work done; it's just
annoying to hear the wrong notes entered. Why even
hear them at all, if they're the wrong notes?

Best to all,

Lon
