it worked great, I have no idea what you mean, it added and removed and checked (as to not double add) users and removed them if no pkg depended on them. Of course I wrote it on 10.2 and niutil may have changed so it my not work on 10.3 thought I c an see why not, and it was all done in the postinst script do it was in the deb. the only problem that wasn't finish ans was easy to finish was with removing, I need to have a way to not remove users that fink didn't add. or that are outside of the min max range. And I didn't know what we wanted to define as our min/max. The lack of docs was because it wasn't accepted, I'm not gonna spend time documenting something that will sit there for 6 month, and I guess it was rightfully so.

AFAIK one of your branches was about making passwd obsolete. Very good that you are working on this. The way it was done isn't quite the way I'd have liked to see it done. That wouldn't matter, though, if it worked. As it is, the code doesn't work and is very outdated compared to the trunk. So it's very hard for interested parties to try it out (the lack of any docs doesn't help). As a result, nobody does. If you are really interested in getting this done and merged, work on it, don't hope on a miracle (because sadly, the miracle always never happens).
