I posted a while back about my now-yearling colt who I thought was grey, but
he did not match the descriptions I have always had of grey babies - in that
his back stripe is definitely a sort of rosy brown and his leg markings are
the same. I now know that this colt IS a grey, but he still has the rosy
brown markings. The best I am able to figure is that the grey underneath
has been diluted by sun bleaching (the hairs underneath his stripe do seem
to be a smokey grey - but NO WAY are they black or charcoal colored.

I have seen pictures of other grey duns that look just like this - including
some pictures of Erland. Everyone else seems to be seeing a charcoal grey
backstripe when I am seeing a rosey brown. I could be the one who is
deluded but my current guess is that the backstripes and leg markings on the
winter coats of the greys are much lighter, and when sunbleached, they are
rosy brown, and not grey at all.

>>grey dun' or am I wrong on this one?
