Darren,
seems your problem is similar if not the same as Brendon and I are
experiencing. I have also seen exactly as you describe except I was usually
doing "X" "A" to deselect all and starting the autorouter. This does not
happen often to me just once every few weeks but the "pregnant pauses" and
missed keystrokes are there most all the time. As I said earlier the problem
is not 100% consistent, like you I can't make it do it right at the moment
but I am sure I will see it as soon as I am doing any amount of work in a
PCB database.
Next time I am deep into a design I am going to try two suggestions
which seem to have possibilities, disable my Norton Antivirus realtime scans
and disable the USB ports on my machine as Dennis and Brian have suggested.
Hopefully it is one of those.
Brendon, I didn't ask you, are you running Norton or MacAfee virus
scanners in realtime mode while you work? How about you Darren?
Let's keep in touch, possibly offline, no sense in posting details
of our attempts or comparisons of machine configs to the listserver
continuously. However, if we find we have fixed something we should post it
to the group for all to share in the obtained knowledge.
