I use winME as an OS with 99SE sp6 running on a 750MHz AMD Athlon with 128M
RAM.
I did have speed issues like you describe.
I solved them by replacing my optical mouse (the type without a ball in the
base) with a standard ball mouse.
I now have no mouse or keyboard lag.
If you're using one of these new fangled mices try replacing it with the
standard type and please let us know if it helps.
Tom.

No this is an old issue for me, no other software has been
running (virus scanner or firewall etc). Not sure about
the USB being the problem either, this was a problem on
my old machine PII300 128M running NT4 no support for USB.
But it would be good to track the problem down.
I still use 2.8 for paneling up jobs and it has never had
this problem.
The other thing is, the pause is not really my problem it's
the missing hot keys.
