I didn't remember that Finnish was your native language!  That makes them
very well represented here....

Anyway, I've talked about such a design on the -dev list in existing
tickets.  I've already started writing the necessary code.

The first step is changing the packets to send the untranslated message
as a key (as does gettext), with variables as parameters.  Fairly easy,
using the universal structure already committed.  Clients handle
language dependency, while the server is independent.

The major question was whether to add it in 2.2 or wait for 2.3?

At this point, I'm in the process of changing the packets in 2.2, but
waiting to change the message parsing itself until 2.3.

That is, it will look exactly the same to an outside observer, and won't
affect current translations.  Changing the translation process to handle
language variants will be gargantuan!

That probably disappoints folks that want everything right away, but
won't delay releasing the Editor as much.
