I've been trying to keep these away from the beginning of the sentence,
usually by sticking "The %s" on it. Perhaps nation_article_plural() to
allow gender, cases, whatever is needed?
There are a lot of unit names used at the beginning. I was thinking about
unit_article() to allow gender.

Isn't that what used to be in the name= field? But now is an adjective?
