Okay, there was just an misunderstand here. My impression that people here dont wanna have patches on the list, but instead a ticket w/ attached patch for each single-tiny case. > For a veteran of LKML, I am surprised that you appear to take offense > quickly. See above: the comment wasn't about flamewars etc, but about patches on the list vs. tickets. >> Looking at the repo history, it doesn't seem that the committers there >> seem to care much. > > I have lost the thread of the argument here, but if you are referring to > my inactivity with respect to your patches, beware that I am massively > backlogged with my personal tree and more importantly, several bug reports > have gone unanswered for longer than I prefer. It was about the alleged lack of documentation in my patches - not just some individual ones, but in general. This somewhat hit a wound nerve, because I always try to make the patches self-consistent and atomic as possible, so they're easy to understand. I've invested a lot of time to split things into smaller less intrusive chunks, just to make review easier. This was really frustrating, so I've just given up sending any patches. >> Actually, I did a few profilings, but it's hard to get any useful >> numbers, as the jitter is just too high, and it's just not worth >> the effort und patch-by-patch basis. > > Cool. Do you now see why I am sceptical of the patches that I have > been labelling "microoptimizations"? Might be true for an individual one. But in the end that all sums up. OTOH, I dont care anymore, as nobody here doesn't seem to care either. I'll just maintain my own branch and wont bother the folks here with my patches anymore. --mtx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Freecol-developers mailing list Freecol-developers@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freecol-developers
