Hi, Ken!

I'm very BAD at soldering. I tried it a few years ago, and I was BAD. Now, with failing eyesight and trembling hands, I do not dare to even look at a soldering iron.
I can exchange pieces of hardware (HDs, memory, CPUs upgrades, etc.) but no soldering, please.
If it is just an exchange of parts, I'll do it.
Best regards.

In other words, more than $200 US dlls. It is NOT economically sound.
I figure than even with shipping charges, I can have a more "cheap", well-done job.
So, anyone cares to recommend some Mac Guru somewhere?
And if this is off-topic, then e-mail me off list.
TIA and best regards.

Well, I don't think it is too far off topic. I suppose the cheapest way to do the repair is to do it yourself. Not being one easily intimidated by taking things apart, I swapped most of the parts in and out of a Wallstreet in order to get it going. After all that, I finally found that it was the processor card. Now I have a bunch of "extra" parts!

From you description of the problem, I would guess that the soldered
connection between the power socket and the Sound Card has come loose. If you aren't up to doing a bit of soldering, I have and "extra" Sound Card. If you want to do a swap out (one of the easier parts to get at in the Wallstreet), let me know.
