I'm very BAD at soldering. I tried it a few years ago, and I was BAD. Now, with failing eyesight and trembling hands, I do not dare to even look at a soldering iron.
I can exchange pieces of hardware (HDs, memory, CPUs upgrades, etc.) but no soldering, please.
If it is just an exchange of parts, I'll do it.
Best regards.

I figure than even with shipping charges, I can have a more "cheap", well-done job.
So, anyone cares to recommend some Mac Guru somewhere?
And if this is off-topic, then e-mail me off list.
TIA and best regards.

Well, I don't think it is too far off topic. I suppose the cheapest way to do the repair is to do it yourself. Not being one easily intimidated by taking things apart, I swapped most of the parts in and out of a Wallstreet in order to get it going. After all that, I finally found that it was the processor card. Now I have a bunch of "extra" parts!
From you description of the problem, I would guess that the solderedconnection between the power socket and the Sound Card has come loose. If you aren't up to doing a bit of soldering, I have and "extra" Sound Card. If you want to do a swap out (one of the easier parts to get at in the Wallstreet), let me know.
