Use HEX key if you have third party WS access point, that was the only way I
can make my PC, two Macs work with the Linksys WS point. You can generate
HEX key easily with WEP Key Maker then use it with all your WS devices. Find
it on versiontracker.com

If you expect to protect your network against attack or intrusion from
outside and have some sensitive data on the network I suggest to use
additional mechanism to protect individual machines as it is fairly easy to
crack the WEP keys. If you want to try it use KisMAC sniffer. Similar
programs exist for other platforms. If you have Macs on the network switch
on the internal firewall service that should help a bit. If you have PCs you
will need third party software to protect your PC (BlackIce, Norton Firewall
and other are available at reasonable prices).
