Why does Netscape equal crap for you, Aaron?
For one it's slow. It's performance has never been except-able to me under any circumstances. Under OS 9, Netscape is the crash king. For some people, not all, I have seen that sucker crash at levels that were unimaginable. It's just plain horrible.
OS 9 is the crash king, in reality.
That said, you really have to boost the memory for Netscape under OS9. Also, if you're using Netscape under OS9, and not using Netscape 7, I'll agree, since NS 6 was a mess. NS 4 and 4.7 were reasonable *when* given enough memory to play with.
OS X seems to be better.

Then use a different theme. I agree, the default UI with Netcsape is really ugly, but there are a pile of themes available for Mozilla and Netscape:
