The procedure is the same - the drive will just be on a different bus if
you mount it in an external USB/Firewire case. Internal or external
Patchburn will still be required to enable support for mac apps like iTunes
etc. The only difficulty I can foresee is bootability from an external
optical drive - should that be required.....I have no idea whether it's
possible to boot from the USB or Firewire bus though I have an inkling there
was a debate over the problem some time ago.
Accelerate your mac has an excellent database for optical drives and the
problems associated with specific makes and models - and whilst most PC
opticals will work in a mac - some have mac support problems which are not
resolveable with Patchburn or any hack. All the Pioneer models can be
supoprt enabled as far as I know.....
