Personally, I'd like to know why this discussion is even going on
here. By definition this list is for discussion of G-processor
based Macs. MacIntels are NOT G-processor based Macs, and as such
are OT for this group. And discussion of running Windoze on them is
even further OT! Can we get back to talking about actual G-series
Macs? If you guys want to discuss these issues, start another list
and talk about them there. I'm tired of hearing about Intel and
Winblows! That's not what this list is here for.
What IS it with people who want to ghettoize themselves so? "I don't
wanna hear anything but my own, teensy little slice of the world!!!"

This is why I think the proliferation of these LEM lists are so bad.
It's like Apple before Steve came back. We have 3,245 different
Performa Models, and the 6523, and 6524 or completely different
machines!
He cut it to 4: iMac, iBook, PowerMac, PowerBook. Simplify, simplify,
simplify.
LEM has a bazillion little lists. just so people don't dare hear of
something they're not interested in: "Left handed Late PowerBook 145
Owners" "2nd Gen B&W owners with screen names starting with 'W'"
If you strip 'general' Mac and software discussion out of these list,
it's just an endless parade of "My hinge broke, how do I fix it"
posts, while the interesting and useful discussion goes elsewhere.
For example, the long (and very useful to judge from the comments)
thread we had over command-tab switching has not a THING to do with G-
series computers..gotta ask that over on the OS X list. OH heck
don't dare ask a question about Photoshop there, gotta ask that on
the Photoshop list...but which one???
The OS 9 crowd demands that we take any discussion of Photoshop past
version 7 to the Photoshop OSX list!!!

Sigh.
I myself learned that DVD drives mounted in USB external cases will
let you play DVD's ...something I didn't know. Not on topic, because
it's not to do with a G-series.
You have a delete key. Learn it's use. If something doesn't interest
you, don't read it. These are discussions about brand new system from
Apple, a sea-change in Apple's systems and of a great deal of
interest to a great number of people here judging by the number of
posts on the subject.
My preference would be for two lists: one for desktop Macs and one
for portable Macs. Those two would likely be the only lists I
subscribed to. As it is, I have to subscribe to four lists to cover
the Macs I have.
