Wow. Where's Agent Mulder and Scully? Talk about paranoia. First of all
if you stick with the G-series machines (G5's and down) I guess you don't
need to worry about all this stuff. Secondly, who knows what Intel and
Apple will be popping out in the next year. Remember, as someone had stated
before what was announced are the low end machines. Stevie boy needed some
boost in the laptop division and Intel managed to help them out, unlike Big
Blue which seem to drag their feet or are lost in the woods when it comes to
the G5 and laptops. However, could the G4's have evolved to rival these
dual core Intel chips?

Some of these posters seem lost i.e. "Why bother with OS X?" What are you
doing on this list? Are you an MS mole? Hmmm? Fess up! ;)

Anyhoo, let me answer that question by telling you a little story about my
setup here at home...

I have a B&W and an IBM Netvista P4/1.6 GHz running on XP. Why choose OS X?
Well, I recently had to purchase a network card (10/100 Base T) since the
built-in one on the IBM for some reason went kaput. I installed it along
with the drivers (it seems the manufacturers don't trust the built in
drivers from MS!). Thirty minutes later I'm still trying to figure out why
the network card is not communicating properly with the router considering
XP says it's connected! I finally solve it. Yay it works! Ok, I then buy
an ATI Radeon 9250 and install the drivers for it. Guess what? The
freakin' installation of the Radeon drivers for some reason corrupted the
drivers of the network card! I had to re-install the network card drivers
again! I have XP automatically update the system through the MS site. The
last 3 updates I've had caused my network card to go screwy. XP is just
buggy.

My anxiety goes up when I need to turn on the IBM as I'm not sure if it'll
be stable and start properly (I have a couple of programs that I need to use
at work and the copies that were given to me are only for Winbloze -- though
both apps have OS X versions). Windows has some nice features I'll admit,
but it's constantly being fixed! There's a reason why people refer to the
OS as Winbloze.

As for OS X apps, what about Final Cut Pro? What about the iApps? Sure
there are comparable apps for XP, but they don't have the same ease of use
or stability or good design as the X apps do.
