Malware that overwrites OS X files, while Windows is running, sure.
But also consider:
The majority of malware authors use x86-based PCs. This means there
is a large pool of malware authors poised to pounce. <- facts not
directly in evidence, but a decent presumption, IMO.
Malware that uses operating system calls is easy to write on Windows,
and most are done this way.
Malware (usually in x86 assembly) that does *not* use OS calls is
harder to write but *oops* will execute equally well on both x86 Macs
and x86 Wintels, *regardless* of which OS is running! IMO, it's only
a matter of time (sooner now than later) before we start seeing this
breed of virus. And of course, there will be intellent (or hybrid)
viruses written, that sniff around to figure out what OS is running
then use OS calls as appropriate.
So why bother with OSX?
Your "the main advantage" (above) is incorrect, IMO. The lack of
"malwareability" is of minor consideration. Ease of use, stability,
and reliability are far more important.
Are there really unique OSX apps not available on Windows?
Yes, for now.
Mostly, I suspect, only in the scientific world tho. I can't really
think of a Mac-only app that doesn't have a PC counterpart...
