How much bandwidth is in use?

>From Speakeasy Speed Test:

Download Speed: 1262 kbps (157.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 289 kbps ( 36.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

NOW using Menu Meters: with 1, 2, 3, or 4 webcam pix on screen
Action.. .still Px.....1 live Px...........2 live Px
Tx KB/s...08-1.4.....2.0- 2.7- 3.7......1.9- 2.1- 2.7
Rx KB/s...08-1.7....12.1-33.5-48.3.....80.1-99.4-116.

As I read this: 1 live pix uses about 40KB/s and 2 uses about 95KB/s, both have
sound, but only one is on, yet sound must be transmitted, even if I am not
listening to it.
Since I have 157KB/s available and am only using 95KB/s I have about 60KB/s in
reserve.

NOW, I open Firefox adding 2 more webcams to the Netscape 2 on screen. You have
to do this, because you can ONLY be signed in on one account on one browser at
a time - this is a trick to let you have 4 at once.

And now I see that I am above 160 KB/sec. for all 4 on at once.

Questions: Where is this bandwidth comming from? All 4 webcams have normal
people moving and talking on live screen.

Have I reached the "full" pipeline?

This test was done using www.broadcaster.com, but should apply to any of
several sites.

Does this show that there is no real need for a "faster" DSL?

Is this application the most demanding you would have on a fast DSL?

What could be faster demand?

SYS: G4 400Mhz, OS 10.2, 512 MB.

Can you tell me how this works?
