One thing is a release over a branch that is supposed to
be stable (so in theory, releasable pretty much any day, or at
the very least with short warning), another is one that marks the
stop of heavy development on trunk, you cannot just pretend to
have people close up whatever they are doing within days.

That said, I personally don't have much at stake, the only
significant change I have on holdup is:

I won't be able to commit it before the RC, but it's not so
bad, non trivial JDBC-NG changes go though the review of two other
people so they are generally safer than the average patch once
we get two positive reviews.

Cite tests are running only against 2.0.x, you get no testing
on trunk at all. I believe we don't have enough disk space on
the build server to make them run now, we hope the situation
will improve.

But in the meantime there is no such coverage.

That is indeed problematic, especially given the amount
of changes that went into 2.7.x
