GeoTools workshop; similar content to last year; this time the documentation is
done in Sphinx (CSS skills permitting). Thus far transferring the content has
gone smoothly and Mark has been helping with the styling and generation of PDF.
I have visited Michael to work on materials and cleaning up MapContext; and so
far Andrea has been very patient and helpful with reviews. I pestered a few
people such as yourself to see if you wanted any proposals in this year; and it
has been pretty productive.

Roadmap has been:

May 2.7-M0
- release a milestone to ensure the library is in releasable state; report any
problems to geotools-devel
- image-moasic did not pass extensive tests

June 2.7-M1
- release a milestone to cover any api change resulting from covering the
review of map+style layer of the library
- image-moasic did not pass extensive tests

July 5th 2.7-RC1
- printing deadline for course materials
- release candidate matching course materials

The only impact is on of appearance; students may feel they are being short
changed if they are paying for a course that is making use of a milestone
release.

Indeed if internet access is good enough to support maven I could take a risk
and print the course material listing 2.7.0 as the version number.. For this to
work we would have to be careful to limit any changes that would effect the
code examples. In this sense this weekend represents a release candidate for
me;

With that in mind I am treating this as a Release Candidate).

FOSS4G is earlier this year; this Monday is the printing deadline; this is
generally how we roll.

Jody
