a question was asked. I simply provided my personal opinion. I would not
do either one of the options described in the question. I then went on to
say what I would do. I also went on to say why I would do so. If money was
an issue she would not have asked if she should wait tell windows 10 do to
the fact that windows 10 computers would be the same cost as windows 8.1
computers. Not only this but if they bought a windows 8 computer now I
expect the upgrade price to windows 10 to be almost nothing. Therefore
buying a windows 7 computer would probably cost her more in the long run
do to the fact you would think the cost to upgrade from windows 7 to 10
would be somewhat higher. Then the recent purchase of windows 8. Not only
that but she gets her windows 10 capable computer at Christmas prices.

Jim, i do not see why someone would want to upgrade when each and
everything i have ever done on xp i can do on windows 7.
Not everyone can shell out money, like popping out babies to upgrade
computers, and windowsoperating systems.
Are you offering to purchase everyone windows 8.1 computers? GOL.LOL

Hi,

I would urge you to upgrade from windows xp as soon as possible. Windows 10
is not expected tell April some time. There for I would not wait tell
windows 10. I would also not go to windows 7 either. This is an old
operating system as well. Not only that but there are a number of things
that you cannot already do with windows 7. With this being said I would go
to windows 8.1. then I would install the beta of window-eyes 9.0. then I
would go to www.ninite.com <http://www.ninite.com> and get the programs you
want from there. One of those program I would get is classic shell. This
will allow you to have the classic start menu on your windows 8.1 computer.
This way you can have a user interface that you are used to and take
advantage of all the latest capabilities of windows 8.1.

Subject: Windows 7 or wait for Windows 10?

Hi, folks.

Getting along just fine with my XP laptop for my personal use. But, getting
tempted with all of the holiday sales to get a Windows 7 machine.

Should I resist temptation and wait until Windows 10 is released?

Would be interested in hearing all pros and cons and considerations that I
should be mindful of in making my decision.

Thanks.

Martha
