Hi Gary and list,

I hope that altering the subject line on this is not against list rules.

Gary, you mentioned not being able to find drivers for an older Epson scanner
that will work on Windows 7. I ran in to the same problem with my ten year
old, MicroTech Scan Maker X12USL that uses MicroTech Scan Wizard 5 scanner
software. I use Open Book Version 8 for scanning. I am running Windows 7 32
bit.

my MicroTech scanner is legal size and cost $180.00, and I didn’t want to throw
a perfectly good scanner in to the dumpster just because I was forced to
upgrade from XP to Windows 7 for security. But, Windows 7 and the scanner’s
software Scan Wizard 5 did not have the right drivers to work with Windows 7.

However, a sighted friend found a 30 day trial version of a program called Vue
Scan. Vue Scan appears to be scanning software that has a lot of drivers for
older scanners. My friend installed Vue Scan and my scanner has worked fine
with Windows 7 for several months now.

Vue Scan cost around $40.00, but I never had to purchase the product. After
the 30 day trial version of the program stopped working, the drivers to run my
MicroTech scanner stayed on my hard drive and the scanner still works just fine.

Gary, I don’t have any way of knowing if Vue Scan has Win 7 drivers that will
work for your Epson scanner or, for any other scanners but I thought I should
paste the link to Vue Scan below just in case it also works for some one else.

I hope this prevents some one from having to throw out their scanner.

James Bentley
