It depends on two questions: What older software or hardware do you have to use either because of features or tasks you need to do, or because of cost of replacement. I have an Epson scanner that I am not willing to replace and which does not have a driver in Win7 for an example. If I want to use that scanner, I'm stuck with some installation of XP at least as an alternative until I can afford to replace the scanner. It's not a given that latest is greatest. On the other hand, if you can afford to wait until Win10 settles down, hold on, do that and see what happens. Some business users still use XP and will not pay upgrade costs. Private users don't always face such concerns. Good luck.
