Yes, this problem definitely spanks and pretty much invalidates what I was
trying to do which was to have slightly different variations in two
different sections.. Ugh.. Well, it *does* work though, but I notice that
within the manual there is no warning for these types of snafus.. oh well..
the split pattern method seems to work okay..
