>Abend/AID & Abend/AID CICS with Fault analyser >Xpediter TSO & Xpediter CICS with Debug tool >Strobe & iStrobe with Application performance analyser
Back in 2004 (I think - it was version3 FA, FM and DT) we looked at migrating to the IBM products from Compuware. We only migrated from AbendAid to FA. FileManager (at the time) was lacking functionality (something to do with PSBs that somehow did not get mapped), and I don't know if this has been included in the product by now. Debug Tool works completely different from the way Xpediter does for IMS Batch regions and online programs. Has something to do with how this gets started, IIRC. So I am only really qualified to talk about FA, which has come a long way since we migrated. FA needs so-called side files to store the source code information. FA will also compare timestamps from the compile listings and look for the 'correct version' to do the analysis automagically. It does work for IMS and DB2, even different versions of DB2. In our case the size of the side files in the testing environment is a pain, as the same program can exist in 5-8 different versions in 5-8 different IMS environments. The side files here are so big that we were forced to make them PDSE, and those now fill about 10 mod9. As far as I know, our AD people 'got used' to FA, which runs rather stable. Plus, after initial problems, the FA development is really responsive and gives good support (once you get through to them).
