If you care about changing the resolution of the monitor ,
then the eMac is preferable.
LCD monitors are only sharp at their recommended resolution.
I believe that the eMac is a fantastic machine.
Also remember that the 17" (17"viewable) iMac is the most desirable.
All the eMacs are 17" (16" viewable.)
With some shopping, the CD-RW version is available for $1000.
Possibly $900, as factory refurbished. Check:

BTW, the  eMac  weight is 50 pounds, I checked the Apple Web site.
