I've seen one bad eMac. It had a large discoloured spot on the screen for three days, then the CRT wouldn't work at all. IOW, it was "bad out of the box." I have checked with over a dozen other eMac owners and they all report no problems on their end. This is all anecdotal and not meant to show a relationship, but I'd have to say the problem is "rare" based on my experience.
