Records (Vinyl) are recorded with a special equalization curve known, I believe, as an RIAA curve. To capture these recordings on your Mac, you need to connect your turntable to a receiver or preamp that has a phono input. The preamp applies the correct equalization to reproduce the audio correctly. If you connect the turntable directly to the Mac, the audio will be distorted.
