FWIW, in Eudora, you can select text then click a single button to
strip out all formatting bogosities. Perhaps your mail client has
the same somewhere?

I'd like to know what evidence either of you could produce to back

No, Charles. Rosetta does not allow "any app" to run. Per Apple's
doc, there is a whole list of things it won't run, including apps
built for OS 8 and 9.
I think John Gruber of Daring Fireball was the first to spot that
Classic is on Death Row:
http://daringfireball.net/2005/06/classic_not_supported
I've seen it in a few places that predate this, but *shrug*.
I got ahold of the guy at Apple that a client delt with re driver bug
issues earlier this year. He confirms - there is no Classic in the
x86 build of OS X. Apple feels that Classic is dead. Period. He
pointed out that Classic, by its very nature does a lot of kernelish
things, to permit OS 9 to access low level internals. Those things
are also themselves listed as not supported by Rosetta.
Now, what will the future hold? Customer complaints brought back OS
9 bootable Macs for a while. Who knows, maybe a grass-roots effort
can bring back Classic. Personally, I don't think it's worth it.
I should think that if Apple is going to put people through a
transition, they'd bend over backwards to make sure as many as
possible are happy
If Apple had any interest in its customers then they would never have
killed off OS 9 so fast. And they'd get off their buttts and write
better drivers and such.
