The question is, what percentage is it? And then within that group of

buy a new Mac at all, compared to those that will just buy the last PPC
Mac Apple makes. The difference being, those that will simply not buy
an
Intel Mac, but will buy a PPC Mac will have a different opinion about
Classic another 3-5 years after they buy their PPC Mac.
That is a whole different set of questions than what the Phil Schiller
quote was saying. I agree that the number you would get from the above
questions is quite small. But that doesn't make what Schiller said
accurate. Today, many people who do buy new macs use Classic. I, and
many others, have invested in good software that hasn't yet been
ported, some that may never be, (e.g. Claris Emailer) and some that we
aren't ready to pay to upgrade. Why walk away from an investment before
you need to?
I eventually did stop using Emailer, but I am glad that I was able to
make that decision on my own, rather than being forced.
