Make sure AppleWorks is up to date.
Make sure your fonts are ok. A number of AppleWorks crashes I've
seen were actually because of broken fonts.
And finally, AppleWorks 6 seems to have a tendancy to "knot itself
up" by slowly corrupting files as you do a lot of edits. This
results in unexpected app crashes and freezes. My solution to this
is to periodically do a Save-As, quit AppleWorks, and relaunch using
the freshly created version of the file. This is especially helpful
with databases and spreadsheets.
Also, there's a bug which makes AW prone to crashing if you have too
many docs in the Starting Points/Recent Items folder. It is a good
idea to clean that folder out every so often.
Yes, definately. Annoying bug. It's especially noticable under OS 9.
