You should be able to drop the hard drive in to install the updates. As
far as what you have to remove, if I am not mistaken the only thing you
have to remove (other than the casing on the bottom of the iMac) is the
cdrom drive. I believe on yours the hard drive is under the cdrom. You
may be able to pull the memory chips out and slide the hard drive out
without removing the cd. I can on mine, but the older ones were a little
different. (I have a 400Mhz. Tangerine iMac).
