I would appreciate any input from the list on trying to get this
machine running again. I've got a 233 Bondi iMac that is stuck when
trying to boot. It also needs firmware updates for both the CD-ROM
and Open Firmware. What is the easiest way to install these if I'm
also having trouble with the CD-ROM? Can one drop a hard drive with
OS 9 loaded into the iMac and boot it to install the firmware
updates? Also, do you have to remove the motherboard in order to
remove the hard drive? I've never taken one of these this far apart
before.
Thanks,
Chris

This Apple support page deals with installing memory, but it
shows you how to get into the older iMacs. Once inside, you can look
around for the hard drive.
