hello.

i just experienced a problem in IMail 5.09.. our server hosts our own
domain, as well
as roughly 200 virtual hosts.. one of these virtual ones we deleted as we no
longer needed.
anyway about 30 minutes later one of the other tech's comes over and says,
'did you recreate
blah.com.au, the one we just deleted?' and i was like, no i didnt, and no
one else did either..
i had experienced this problem with virtual hosts reappearing before.. when
they recreate themselves,
you expand the + and normally it brings down 'users' and 'aliases', just
like when you make a new
one, however, only 'users' would display.. and you couldn't bring down the
'users' list, however
if you right-clicked on it and chose 'add user' and went thru the steps,
when it had finished,
you would crash iadmin.exe. which wasnt so bad, but basically we had to
delete this virtual
host so that people internally could mail the REAL domain (which wasnt meant
to be hosted on our
server). but if you clicked on that virtual host before you deleted it, and
looked at the
'official host name' box, it would have the hostname of our proper domain -
i.e. not its own name.
before i noticed this however, i deleted the domain that was playing up -
which in turn deleted our
PROPER domain - which caused no end of stress, ive just spent the last 30
minutes trying various
methods of backing up the registry. which i did, but lost 2 weeks worth of
new users/domains.
to top it off, the two weeks worth that we lost of domains, still actually
show up in the virtual
host list - and they're all the same as the original one, linked to our
proper 'main' mail host,
and i'm afraid to delete them because the same thing will probably happen
again - but i need to
be able to recreate those, which i can't unless i delete them first.. can
anyone PLEASE for the love
of god/satan/furry animals help me, i know this is long and confusing, but
if you can decipher it,
or have had the problem before, please, gimme a hand..!!

thanks..
