New Features I would like to see in Imail: Feature 1 Mail server HTML spam filtering: I would like to see Ipswitch add a new feature to Webmail where the html links in email can optionally be turned off by the user on a per message basis. Yahoo.mail is doing this and I think that it would a long way to limiting confirmation of email address as good addresses to spammers. It would also start to cut into the money that spammers make in click through banner ads. (http://email.about.com/b/a/015230.htm) The way it would work is that the user could block Imail from displaying linked html content unless the user chose a view content button.
Does anyone know if this feature is available in any third party Webmail templates? Feature 2 Read Receipts At the server level: The ability to add a command in plain text in an email that is replaced when it is sent with an URL link that when the user opens the mail, it would register that the message was opened with the originated mail server. The statistics of open mail could be mailed to the Imail sender as a receipt or could optionally be consolidated and sent to the user on a schedule basis. I know that this is in direct contradiction to the above feature request Feature 3 - Challenge/Response secured email at the user/domain/server level Add the ability to use a challenge/response system for received email on the Imail server. When an email is sent to a user account on an Imail server, the mail would be held. The user would then be sent an email that directs them to a webpage where they would have to enter a code that is displayed in a graphic format. This would then validate the user as a real person and then white list the email address for that user, releasing the email that was queued for delivery. You could optionally choose to allow the white list to apply to an entire domain or server. Each user could optionally add email addresses to their whitelist to take care of mailing lists, etc. Just a few thoughts... any one have comments? Scott R.
