The way I envision this is the Imail account user could place some text in
the message that the Imail server would then replace with an URL that when
the receiver opens the message would be a referrer command back to the
server validating the receipt of the message. This would only work when a
user checked email with view html content activated, for example Outlook
with preview pane or a web based mail client. While not 100% effective it
would go a long way to return the functionality of the old return receipts
feature of email without requiring any action of the recipient to respond to
the return receipt. Email advertisements/spam/newsletters already do
something similar to this. I am looking at this primarily for the purpose
of tracking corporate correspondence. I read about something like this that
is provided by a company online (http://www.mstag.com/home/).

Just a couple of little wish list item as I look at what features are out
there in other mail products.

This requires that *all* e-mail clients be changed to accomplish what
you're asking for.
