Imail 8.01 we are currently using. The main reason for this is that the Anti-Spam does not work well at identifying blacklisted spammers because we have a separate anti-virus gateway between our mail server and the internet.

The best system design is to have the anti-spam function come before the AV function, avoiding the very problem you have.

If the AV is before anti-spam, your AV box is scanning 100% of your traffic, when 50% to 80% of it is spam, just to catch less the 1% of the traffic that is infected.

Why waste your resources AV scanning the spam?

First reject the spam, and then AV scan only the non-spam.
