Agreed...

The funny thing here is that as a GoldMine/MS CRM dealer we've found that
Collaboration Suite type products do a very poor job of fulfilling the
requirements of the average company, and at this price a company can do much
better. There is no way this stuff is as useful and flexible as the
mainstream CRM solutions and it doesn't make any sense for us to even think
of carrying this product. We carried IMail simply because we frequently run
into companies that want to implement a CRM solution and find that having
their own email server would benefit them. It is also good for implementing
in-house anti-spam solutions. Collaboration Suite gives us little except
for additional features nobody wants or needs. It is especially useless for
an ISP and these folks have really been screwed by this.

I don't know what kind of market research they've done, but I don't hear
anyone screaming for this type of product and our business is dealing with
the kinds of people Ipswitch 'thinks' want it. For not much more money we
can setup a company with an out-of-the-box GoldMine solution and a simple
and inexpensive mail server that will kick the hell out of Collaboration
Suite and products like it.

None of this surprises me though, as I've had some less than pleasant
dealings with Ipswitch before and have found them to be somewhat
narcissistic in their treatment of customers and resellers. I do hope this
boneheaded move puts enough of a dent in their pockets to get them to wake
the hell up and come down from the pedestal, or at least toss the 'talent'
that comes up with this lunacy.

Now, I suppose I should be fair and say that I have dealt with a few nice
people at Ipswitch... very few.
