And this disturbs the universe how? Was Gnoppix have been a failure because it chose Gnome? Was Kbuntu a failure because it used KDE? It was the market that decided. I think you should be complaining about the naming convention, not the reference model. Suppose we call it OpenSolaris G and OpenSolaris K. Would that make a difference to your argument?
> the debate isn't whether to make it impossible to run the alternate D.E., it's what we ought to ship by default on "The Reference Distro", not one of it's offshoots Again, my point... You are basically arguing one WM over another. If they chose KDE, then we would hear the same argument from the Gnome camp, right? This is a futile argument. There are many reasonable arguments for either camp to be in the reference distribution. I was confused when Sun originally backed Gnome over KDE because at that time, KDE was clearly a superior product. However, at this time I don't see a hands down winner based solely upon technical merit. Someone has to draw a line in the sand. The argument should be whether they will support the KDE user base, not whether they support it by default. Now if this were the case, I'd be crying "foul" as loud as I could. _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
