Anytime you get an HR person in the loop. If 2 - 3 years is good, lets put in 5. No
matter what the skill is.

When we use to hire, we would get the resumes offline, then tell HR who we wanted to
hire. The best intentions often go awry in HR.

Title: RE: [jdjlist] Re: gap between universities and employers ????

Oh, eah, I see this kind of thing all the time in ads for the biotech software engineers: Unix Admin and Oracle DBA, (2-3 years), followed by 5-7 years of J2EE/EJB (I guess they mean people who were developing the RMI before the original EJB?) AND a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biology.

Nice, eh?

A ad I once read wanted 10 years(!) of Java experience. I guess they meant to hire only the folks
who worked w/ Gosling on Oak !
