:), Let's try to be a little bit objective here, I guess we are a little bit
more mature than to start a Programming Languages War,
Well, Amer, I guess you need to be a little bit enlightened about where did
PHP is these days. Design Patterns, MVC, ORM ... etc., these stuff are not
much related to the Programming language as they are for the person doing
programming.
Most of us work in a very great use of Design Patterns and stuff, but if you
got to the Definition of Design Patterns, it's there to help you solve a
certain template of a problem, not a thing you need to implement, if you get
what I mean.
Also, OOP and SOA, they are 2 different things that serve 2 different
purposes, yes SOA is there, but even when you are working with a good SOA,
you come across OO issues.
and, don't worry, we do million $ Projects too :P.
If you are talking about about E-Gov solutions, well it's more related to
political issues than to what it really needs, and about Technology, well
it's out there, knock yourself out, it's more about if what you need to do
the job, in the end, I don't care if there is a 64 Processor HPIS server,
with a big set of expensive software to run my software, or if it is a
simple PII machine, running on free software, and they both end doing the
same Job.
But, if we were in a position to make a decision about a certain set of
requirements for an application, on what language would suit you better, in
the end client doesn't care if you wrote it in an assembly language, he
cares about the end result, and the money he is paying.
Xushi makes a good point, it's not right to compare these types of
languages, but in the end everything is comparable. :P
