I have yet to see if I can browse the 'net from my PC using the phone

If it's a new enough phone that they can tell the difference, they will
charge you an extra $10 or $15 for "tethered mode".
If I find it stated as such in the contract, then I can accept that
(almost). If I can't - and I haven't yet - then I will not accept it nor
will I pay it.
However, the chances of me actually needing to do it are between slim
and none. The browser on the phone works fine (even if it is a small
screen, but it does have a zoom function), and I've only used it a
couple times to check weather and check our servers when I was not near
a computer.
(My daughter was the first to use it before I had even looked at the
phone. I opened the box, she grabbed it, and then logged into her
MySpace account. I laughed at her and took the phone back saying it
wasn't fair that she used it before I got to! :D )
Now if only I could boot a Linux kernel on it I'd be soooo happy!
