The alternate network connection may not work for this.
That is so you don't use the APIPA addresses if you can't connect to a DHCP
server.

Are you admin on your laptop? If you are then there is stuff you can do.
Google search for the NETSH command, there are some BATch file examples on
changing eth configuration. It will allow you to dump your network
configuration to a file. It will also let you load a network configuration
from a file.
You can have two. One for work, one for home and switch between them with a
batch file.

Look at this for some ideas
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q257748

Couple catches.
-If your company has Active Directory group policies that prevent this, you
are kind of doomed.
-Don't unjoin from your domian, you would only have to explain to your IT
staff.

Alternative posibles. If you have a different NIC card, than use that at
home. It may be a way around Group Policies.

This:
> DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
Shows that you are getting the DNS in your home network, so it 'should' work.
